The Rejuvenation of Creativity

August 25, 2011

Welcome to my site blog and pottery lovers! This blog is about my journey to be a professional potter and my attempts to make a career out of it. If you read my “about me” page you will learn that I am a Bachelor and Masters graduate, but am still without a job. During my wait time for a license I have decided to pursue my other passion of pottery. My love of spending hours at the throwing wheel began at Hardin Simmons University where I got my undergraduate degree. At first I was apprehensive, but quickly found I enjoyed creating beautiful forms out of hunks of clay. I took some time off from pottery for about a year while I worked on a Masters in counseling. Realizing that I missed the creative outlet of pottery I searched the internet and soon found the Craft Guild! The Craft Guild is a wonderful studio in Addison providing classes for pottery, painting, and jewelry making, and blowing glass beads. The class fee not only provided me a great teacher, but access to a wheel, kilns, and people to fire my work.

I have spent many hours at the Craft Guild working on pottery, but also meeting new people and making new friends. Working with other creative people and making art rejuvenated my spirits, bringing me out of the daily grind of life. I hope you enjoy reading about my projects and are encouraged to start your own so that you may feel rejuvenated as well!
